Ayra Starr Climbs To No. 1 on the Official Artiste Top 100 Chart in Nigeria

By Azeezat Okunlola | Apr 4, 2023
Ayra Starr breaks new ground as the first female artist to top the Official Artiste Top 100 chart for the week of March 17-23. Previously, she reached a high of #3 in the weekly poll.

The year 2023 has gotten off to a roaring start for the singer, as "Sability" has topped the Official Nigeria Top 100, making it her fourth No. 1 song in the country.

She now has three top 10 singles, including "People (Remix)," which peaked at #6, and "Stamina," which peaked at #4. The former helped her reach the top of the artiste list this week after her track broke a record for sales.

In addition, Ayra Starr is the only performer in 2023 to have three separate top 10 singles.

Furthermore, with 'Rush' at No. 1, it is the first time a female singer in Nigeria has topped a combined chart. It's the longest time ever (40 weeks) that no song by a female artist has been at the top of the charts.

In addition, EMPIRE's 26-week run of chart-topping singles comes to an end with Mavin Records' release of "Rush."

Topping this week's Nigeria Top 100 is "Rush," the main single from her debut album, 19 & Dangerous (Deluxe).

Both "Organise" and "Terminator," formerly at the top, have fallen to second and third place.

Pheelz's 'Electricity' featuring Davido climbs 5-4, while Fireboy DML's 'Bandana' featuring Asake drops 4-5.

Although Asake's "Joha" remains at its current top position of No. 6 for another week, Bella Shmurda's "Philo" featuring Omah Lay enters the chart at No. 7.

This week's top ten also included a drop in popularity for Wizkid's "Bad To Me," a new high for Oxlade's "Ku Lo Sa - A COLORS SHOW," and a drop in popularity for "Dull" by Asake.

Victony's "Soweto" featuring Tempoe climbs to number 12 and Black Sherif's "Soja" enters the chart at number 19, just outside the top ten.
