Broadcast Music Inc (BMI), the global leader in music rights management, honoured Nigerian singer and international breakout star Tems with a BMI Impact Award at the 2022 BMI London Awards.

According to the BMI Website, this happened on Monday, in a private event held at London's Savoy Hotel and hosted by BMI President and CEO Mike O'Neill.

Singer and songwriter Tems was said to have been awarded the award for her groundbreaking artistry, creative vision and impact on the future of music.

Receiving the BMI Impact Award places her in the ranks of previous winners like RAYE and Arlo Parks.

During the award ceremony, Tems performed her songs "Higher" and "Found", leaving the audience spellbound.

Higher is from her 2020 debut EP, Broken Ears, while Found is from her second EP titled If Orange Was A Place.

Upon receiving her award, Tems said: “I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for this award… I’ve come a long way, and I’m so grateful.”

Other notable people awarded at the BMI 2022 include singer Ellie Goulding who was awarded the BMI President Award, and singer Ed Sheeran who received a Song of The Year award for his song "Bad Habits" featuring Johnny McDaid.
