#CAFAwards2022: Asisat Oshoala Makes History, Wins African Player of The Year Five Years in a Row

Asisat Oshoala, a football player and striker with Nigeria's Super Falcons, has made history at the 2022 edition of the CAF Awards.

According to The Cable NG, the 27 year old was crowned 2022 CAF Women's 'Player of The Year' in the awards gala held in Rabat, Morocco on Thursday. 

She was also awarded the winner of the gong in the same event. This triumph is not only her fifth time winning Player of the Year.

In a celebratory Twitter post made CAF Online, it was reported that this is also the triumph that makes her the first person in history to win five African Player of the Year Awards.

Previously, Oshoala had been adjudged the best African female football player in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2019.

Oshoala won the Pichichi award in Spain scoring 20 goals in 19 games. She has scored 29 goals for the Super Falcons.

She won the Primera Iberdola (Women’s football League) with Barcelona Femini with 90 points from 30 matches.
