Former TV broadcaster Emana Ambrose-Amawhe is Cross River's PDP Deputy Governor

Princess Emana Ambrose-Amawhe is a former Channels broadcaster who was announced in July by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Cross River state, Senator Sandy Onor as his running mate ahead of the 2023 elections.

 

Education and Career

A fellow of the ElectHer lawmakers programme like Simi Olusola, and Idongesit Micah Eno and Doosur Ngiyev, Ms Ambrose-Amawhe has a degree in Political Science from the University of Ibadan. She also obtained a distinction in Broadcast Journalism from London Academy of Media, Film and Television. 

In 2019, she attended London Business School and received certifications in Executive Education and Leadership Strategy.

Between 2015-2019, she worked as a Senior Presenter and News Reporter with Channels Media Group and from 2014-2015, she worked as a News Anchor with TVC News.

Her media career has also seen her work as a Producer for the Ondo and Edo state governorship debates and as an anchor for Sunday Politics and Politics Today.

She currently serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees and Director Trade and Investment of The Cross River Economic Summit Organisation, is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, Nigeria and a Fellow of The Institute of Management Specialists, UK .

 

Campaign

In her acceptance speech, Ms Ambrose-Amawhe described her nomination as victory for every hard-working woman.

“Women must be resilient and never give up on their dreams, the ticket does not belong to me, it is yours, it belongs to the people who have only given it to me to hold in trust for them," she said. "Let us keep aside our misgivings, and take back our dear state, Sen Sandy Onor and myself cannot do it alone, we need your support, we need you to achieve a new Cross River of our dreams."
