Nine-Year-Old Girl Found Chained By Employers In Pakistan
A nine-year-old girl was found chained by her employers in the Eden Valley neighbourhood of Faisalabad, Pakistan. She was bound with chains so that she couldn't escape.
It was reported that the girl worked as a maid, where the house owners tortured her. After receiving a call, the Faisalabad Police Department investigated the incident. Police officers conducted a raid on the home and were able to save the girl.
Asif and his wife, Aliya Bibi have been recognised as the house owners. According to the report filed by Robina Iqbal Cheema of the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB), the couple has been charged with child torture.
The accused have been charged under sections 328-A, 344, and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and section 34 of the Punjab Destitute and Neglected Children Act (2004).
Both Asif and his wife are currently in prison. The girl, who was allegedly tortured while chained, had multiple open wounds and torture marks, according to the lawsuit. The issue has been deemed important enough to warrant an investigation.
Irrefutably, thousands of children labour as maids and servants behind the gleaming glass doors of the country's most affluent neighbourhood. An estimated 264,000 youngsters in Pakistan are involved in such labour, and allegations of abuse by their employers are widespread.
