Nollywood actress and running mate to PDP  gubernatorial candidate, Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor), Funke Akindele, recently campaigned for PDP over the next general elections, telling merchants that only PDP will ease their hardships and suffering in the markets and throughout the state.

On Wednesday, Ms Funke Akindele, candidate for Deputy Governor of Lagos for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), campaigned at many prominent marketplaces on Lagos Island.

The actress received a hero's welcome from the merchants of Mami Market, Obada Obalende Market, Obalende Ijeh Market, Ajah Market, and other prominent marketplaces.

Akindele toured many different marketplaces and promised the merchants there that the PDP administration will improve their lot by creating a favourable economic climate, improving access to social services, and lowering the interest rates on business loans.

According to her, the PDP administration would not let them down, but instead empower them and provide free and obligatory education, free school uniforms, and at least one meal per day for their children.

The hardships and pains in Lagos state, Akindele remarked, "are too much. Your fate is in your hands, the power is in your hand to rescue the state using your PVCs."

It is your right to a more prosperous Lagos with favourable conditions in which to run your companies. With your PVCs, the fate of the state is in your hands.

"It is your right to have a better Lagos where you have enabling environment for your businesses. Your fate is in your hands, the power is in your hand to rescue the state using your PVCs.

“When we say fight for Lagos, we are not saying you should bring out cutlasses and knives but to bring out your PVCs and use it to install better governance for yourself and your children.

“I bring good news to you women that Jandor (Adediran) has made provision for women, children and people living with disabilities,” she said.

She advised the business owners to get their PVCs and support PDP candidates in all of the upcoming elections so that they may finally get some help in the state.

Akindele continued, "I will never represent a bad deal and that is why I am standing with Jandor (Adediran). We want to take over Lagos state so that we can give you a better Lagos.

“Go and collect your PVCs if you have yours already, please on election day, come out and vote PDP.

“We need a change. The one APC did is enough, we must do another party. Vote all PDP candidates, I beg.”

Further assuring them, she stated, “I will not disappoint you, we shall protect you and your children as well as the physically challenged people. Let us try PDP and bring in the fresh air. We won’t let you down."

“The time has come for a turnaround in the state. We will not renege on promises. We shall reform and turn around Lagos with the huge wealth in the state."

“We shall build modern markers, provide soft loans, fire service and mobile health care close to markets. Lagos has money to do these."

”We will make sure we protect our youths, we will empower them. We will make a change,” she promised.

Ms Akindele told business owners at a town hall meeting at Ajah Market that their tears would be forgotten if the People's Democratic Party (PDP) were elected governor of Lagos State.
