Transcorp Hotels Appoints AGF, Oluwatoyin Madein, As Non-executive Director

Transcorp Hotels, the first Nigerian hospitality company to reach a market worth of N1 trillion, under Dupe Olusola, has announced that Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein, the country's Accountant General, will join its board of directors as a non-executive director.

 

On Tuesday, Transcorp Hotels Plc announced in a corporate notice filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited that the board of directors of the company had accepted Madein's appointment on March 5, 2024.

 

“Dr Madein represents the interest of one of the company’s significant shareholders, the Ministry of Finance Incorporated, on the board."

 

“As a company that places a great premium on governance as a performance enabler, and we believe that this appointment will further strengthen the board’s oversight functions, and thereby enhance value creation and delivery for all stakeholders,” the corporate notice signed by the Group Company Secretary, Stanley Chikwendu, partly read.

 

Madein has held several positions in the Federal Civil Service, including Assistant Director, Deputy Director, and Director, Finance and Accounts. Currently, she serves as the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF).

 

Press release from the Federal Office of the Head of Service states that Madein was appointed AGF on May 18, 2023, one year after Ahmed Idris was suspended.

 

She earned a doctorate in management (finance) from Walden University in the United States.

 

She is a Fellow of numerous professional organizations, including the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, and the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants, UK. She also has an MBA from Ogun State University.
